What is the DANWISE Prize?

A yearly prize given by Danish Women in Science (DANWISE) to those who have supported women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine (STEMM), humanities and social sciences fields. The prize can be received by individual persons, departments, or other functional teams or organizations from one of the Danish universities, a life science industry, union or grant funding agency. We strongly encourage nominations by and for men, women, and other gender identities.

How & When to Nominate?

  • Nominations can be submitted by the nominee themselves or a third party.
  • Send the nomination as a pdf file of maximum 500 words. The statement should identify the individual, department’s, team’s or organization’s contributions and accomplishments.
  • Submit to info@danwise.org with the subject byline: Nomination for the DANWISE Prize
  • Deadline: 1 March 2023.

Criteria for Selection

Applications will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Demonstration of significant or sustained commitment to the values of diversity and inclusion (including but not restricted to gender race, multiculturalism, LGTBQ+ status, and physical abilities) by documented efforts.
  • Evidence of exceptional efforts to eliminate bias and discrimination in the workplace within either a university, life science industry or grant funding agency.

Other Remarks

  • Winners will be presented on the DANWISE website and social media.
  • Winners of the DANWISE Prize 2023 will be announced on 8 March 2023.
  • Award recipients will be honored with the DANWISE diversity prize trophy.
