Danish fathers take just 10 percent of the total maternity leave, while Swedish and Norwegian fathers take 20 and 30 percent, respectively. Several studies show that maternity leave is the biggest stumbling block for women's careers and wage development, and at the same time it can be difficult for men to take paternity leave when it falls outside the norm. Talk and Discussion: The Historical Roots of the Wage Gap between Men and Women in the Public Sector
